Difference between dry type transformer and oil immersed transformer and their advantages and disadvantages

In terms of price, dry type is more expensive than immersion type.
In terms of capacity, large capacity oil is more important than dry oil.
Dry type transformers are used in complex buildings (basement, floor, roof, etc.). )And crowded places. Oil transformer is used in independent substation.
The box type transformer is generally used in the box type transformer. Oil transformer is generally used for outdoor temporary power consumption.
During construction, dry change and oil change should be selected according to the space, when the space is large, when the space is crowded, choose dry change.

2. Different forms of lead
Dry type transformer mainly uses silicone rubber bushing, while oil transformer compressor mainly uses porcelain bushing.

3. Different capacity and voltage
Dry type transformer is generally suitable for power distribution, with capacity below 1600 KVA, voltage below 10kV, and some of them reach 35kV voltage level; however, oil type transformer compressor can realize full capacity from small to large, and the voltage level can reach all voltages; oil transformer voltage transformer is used in bixu, UHV 1000 kV test line under construction in China.

4. Insulation and heat dissipation are different
Dry type transformer is generally insulated by resin, cooled by natural air and cooled by large capacity fan, while the compressor of oil type transformer is insulated by insulating oil. The heat generated by the coil radiates to the radiator (plate) of transformer through the circulation of insulating oil inside the transformer.

5. Applicable places
Dry type transformer is often used in places where "fire and explosion-proof" is required, and it is easy to be used in large buildings and high-rise buildings; however, due to "accidents", the oil type transformer compressor may have oil spray or leakage, leading to fire. Most of them are used outdoors, digging "accident oil pool" on site.

6. Different bearing capacity
Dry type transformer should be operated under rated capacity, while oil transformer compressor has better overload capacity.

7. The cost is different
For the same capacity transformer, the purchase price of dry-type transformer is much higher than that of oil type transformer compressor.
